For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,[a] you did it to me.’ Matthew 25:35-40
Campamento Nehemias was began over 70 years ago as Campamento Rural Metodista and many of the buildings are showing their age. The Costa Rican Government has asked that all of the facilities meet International Building Codes in order to operate. We also have plans to create a welcome center for teams to gather and additional dorms and classroom space for teaching English and literacy.
We offer English and Spanish literacy classes to the staff and other community members.
Our desire to share the love of Christ begins with building community. While all of what we do could be classified as Community Outreach, we want to create programs that are intentional about opening the camp up to the community in which we live. This facility is meant to be shared and used by the teams that visit, the staff that live and work here as well as the larger community in San Carlos.
